Hunter Marlowe
Hunter Marlowe is a big deal. Archeologist, scholar, eminent authority on indigenous
hieroglyphics. His new book just hit the bestsellers list and he’s receiving a prestigious
award at a very special ceremony.
However our dirt-digging, history-loving, skinny bookworm does not have a date.
So he types up an email to his old girlfriend, a very special woman who he deserted in
the middle of the night years ago. He does not even read it over to check for typos.
He presses SEND.
Oh, did I mention Hunter is also an international assassin?
Chapter One
Hunter’s Quest
Lira’s Story
Lira waited patiently by the small airport gate watching his plane touch down. She hadn’t seen or heard from him in two years. The love of her life left her unexpectedly with nothing more than a cryptic note on his pillow, stating ‘I have to leave to keep you safe. Forgive me. I love you, Hunter.’
Then last week, out of the blue, she got an email.
‘I’m giving a lecture on my new book, Indigenous Hieroglyphics at Youngstown State University on Thursday at seven o’clock. I’d love for you to come with me. Meet me at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport at five thirty. We’ll go to the lecture together and then out to dinner. Please come. We need to talk. I love you. Hunter.’
Lira’s first thought was to delete the email and continue her search for the advertisement for that new face cream guaranteed to turn back the clock to happier days.
But then she thought—Hunter, those were happy days, the happiest. She hit reply and typed ‘Okay.’
But now that his plane taxied to a stop, Lira has second thoughts about seeing Hunter again.
Was it too late to run?
Fear gripped Lira.
